Canolfan Gorseinon Centre

Canolfan Gorseinon Centre opens as third mass vaccination centre in Swansea.

A new mass vaccination centre has opened in Swansea to increase the number of people being protected.

Canolfan Gorseinon Centre, which is near Aldi on Millers Drive, Gorseinon, is the third centre in the Swansea Bay University Health Board area.

It follows after the opening of Margam Orangery and Bay Field Hospital on Fabian Way.

The new Gorseinon centre will focus on vaccinating people in their late 70s.

Recently some have raised concerns that people in their 70s have been called for their jabs while older community members over 80 and 90 still hadn’t received theirs.

The health board’s explanation was that over 80s would continue to be called to GPs for their injections, while the over 70s are gradually called to mass vaccination centres.

It is hoped this will vaccinate a larger proportion of vulnerable people from coronavirus.

What a fantastic day out!
