This week, our Habitat Homecare Day Trippers enjoyed a truly special day out, marking VE Day with a nostalgic celebration at the Gateway Resort in Llanelli.
With wartime classics, period details, and plenty of smiles, the event was a wonderful reminder of the strength, spirit and resilience shown during the 1940s — and a great opportunity to come together as a community and reflect on the past.
A Wartime Feast with a Twist
Guests were treated to a traditional carvery lunch, with a fun vintage touch — ration books at the ready! It sparked plenty of conversations and memories around the tables, setting the scene for a lively afternoon.
Music, Memories and a Churchill Speech
Following lunch, everyone joined in with a classic wartime sing-along, enjoying well-loved songs from the era. A special moment came as the voice of Winston Churchill filled the room, reminding us of the words that defined a generation.
Games, Laughter and Plenty of Prizes
The fun didn’t stop there. A vintage-style version of The Price is Right kept everyone entertained, followed by a raffle and bingo packed with prizes and laughter. It was a wonderful way to bring people together and celebrate with joy and humour.
Thank You to the Gateway Team
A heartfelt thank you to Natalie and the entire team at the Gateway Resort for hosting such a thoughtful, creative and enjoyable event. Your energy and effort made this celebration one to remember for all our day trippers.
Celebrating Together
At Habitat Homecare, we believe that social experiences and a sense of connection are just as important as care itself. Events like this are all about sharing joy, supporting independence, and helping the people we care for to live full and meaningful lives.
We’re already looking forward to the next day trip.
